Door types

Which garage door is right for you?

  • Up & over — canopy garage door
    Most popular

    Up & over — canopy

The classic single-panel door. Swings up and out as it opens, so it needs a little clearance in front of the garage.

    • Budget friendly
    • Weather resistant, secure locking
    • Steel construction
    • Automation available
Best for: Standard single garages where you don't park tight to the door.
  • Up & over — retractable garage door
    Great for automation

    Up & over — retractable

Neater one-piece door that retracts fully inside the garage on horizontal tracks — nothing projects outward when open.

    • No outward swing
    • Smooth operation
    • Wide choice of styles and finishes
    • Automation available
Best for: Driveways where a canopy's swing is a problem, or where you plan to automate.
  • Roller garage door
    Modern & secure

    Roller

Space-saving vertical door that coils into a compact box above the opening. No swing, minimal headroom needed.

    • Motorised as standard
    • No swing-out space needed
    • Strong security
    • Sleek, contemporary look
Best for: Modern homes, garages with limited headroom, or where a clean automated door is the priority.
  • Sectional garage door
    Insulated & durable

    Sectional

Premium insulated door that rises vertically in panels and folds back along the ceiling — no outward swing at all.

    • Motorised as standard
    • Fully insulated panels
    • Quiet operation
    • High security
Best for: Short driveways, integral garages, or where insulation and a premium finish matter.

Not sure which suits your property? The engineer assesses your opening, driveway and headroom at the survey and talks you through the options — no obligation to go ahead. And if the door is structurally sound, a repair is often all it needs, at a fraction of the cost.

  • Property valueBuyers notice security and kerb appeal. A quality door is a visible upgrade.
  • Peace of mindManufacturer warranty on the door plus our own workmanship guarantee.

Quick answers

Good to know

How long does it take from survey to installation?
Stock-size doors can often be fitted in under two weeks from the survey. Made-to-measure or bespoke doors take longer — typically 3–6 weeks depending on the manufacturer and specification. We'll give you a realistic timescale at the survey.
Is the survey really free? What does it involve?
Yes, completely free with no obligation. The engineer measures the opening, checks the structure and any existing mechanism, and talks through what you want. You get a clear fixed quote afterwards.
My door has completely failed — can you make it secure first?
Yes. If the door has failed and left the garage open, call us and we'll prioritise getting an engineer out to make it safe and secure before the replacement is arranged.
Can I change to a different type of door?
In most cases, yes. Many customers use a replacement to upgrade — for example from an old up-and-over to an insulated sectional, or to a roller door with automation. The survey confirms what will fit.
Will a new door fit my existing opening?
Most standard UK openings take off-the-shelf sizes. For unusual openings we supply made-to-measure doors built to your exact dimensions, which is why we measure at the survey rather than quoting blind.
Can the new door be automated?
Yes. Sectional, roller and retractable up-and-over doors all work well with motorised drives, and we fit the automation as part of the same job.
What guarantee do I get?
The manufacturer's warranty on the door itself — typically 1–5 years depending on the product — plus our own workmanship guarantee on the installation. Full details are confirmed with your quote.
What happens to my old door?
We remove and dispose of the old door as part of the installation. Just tell the engineer if there's anything specific you'd like to keep.
